The Mr. Tommy's go Head to Head

Here is a short video clip of Mr. Tommy R. (Matthew's Dad) and Mr. Tommy B. (Matthew and Tommy B's dad).  The rest of the photos and an update including all of the winners will be posted tomorrow!!

Just a quick update, we had about 30 boys show up to race and we were very proud of all of them!  Awards were given for each level; Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Weblo's and an award was given for the over all winner.  There was also a competition for boat design.  A full report will be posted within the next few days!

Thank you to all the parents and scouts who came out to support us and special thanks to Susan and Kristy for all your hard work getting the awards together for the boys!!!

Rain gutter Regatta and Camp Out

Saturday September 25, 2010 at The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and fisheries: Located at 61384 Fish Hatchery Road in Lacombe.

  • Campers are to arrive at 1:00 PM
  • Non-Campers are to arrive at 2:00 PM
  • Ran Gutter Regatta will start at 3:00 PM
  • Families are responsible for their own food and drink.  Please remember it will be hot, bring enough for you and your child.  Bring food for dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning.
  • Scouts should bring their full uniform with them.
  • Siblings and parents are welcome to build their own boats.  There will be a race for siblings and one for parents as well.
  • You and your child do not need to camp out in order to participate in the Regatta.
  • You will want to bring chairs to sit in for the Regatta and other events during the campout.
Please fill out the Medical and Media release forms, if they are not filled out and turned in, your scout will not be able to participate in the campout or the rain gutter regatta.

If anyone has folding tables, tarps, extra tents, grills or canopies, please contact the pack via the pack email: scoutpack348@yahoo.com so that we can gauge how many we need to find.

Information about the sailboats used in the Regatta can be found at http://boyslife.org/hobbies-projects/projects/3921/make-the-ultimate-raingutter-regatta-racer/.  This website tells you how to make the boats.  The kits can be found at the Army Surplus store on Natchez Dr.

After the Regatta the boys will build a fire and cook dinner and have some activities in the evening before going to bed.

Sunday morning, the boys will be making fishing poles out of bamboo poles and fishing at the ponds on the property.  The ponds are stocked with fish so they will catch a bunch, please note that it is catch and release, you will have to put the fish back but the kids will have a blast fishing in the ponds.

We are looking forward to this event.  Jim, Tommy B, John S. and others have been working very hard on the rain gutters and Jim and Tommy R. spent most of this weekend cleaning up the property and getting things ready at the campsite to make this a great experience for all of the kids.  We would like to get an approximate count of how many boys will be participating, please respond to the pack email at scoutpack348@yahoo.com.

Thanks so much and we hope to see you there!!

Running with the Pack

Greetings to all!! My name is Tianni Rowley and I will be keeping up with the boys this year and keeping you posted through the website about functions and achievements our young men are doing.  Please check back often, I plan on posting something at least once a week.

Welcome to Pack 348!  This blog will be dedicated to our boys, what they do and how they are "Running with the Pack" this year.  I will also be doing some history from last year, so the new scouts can have an idea of what type of events we will be doing throughout the year,  Kristy Coco, Jim Coco's wife has given me all of the photos that we will be putting up and I will be taking photos and working with Kristy from here on out for photos.  Please, in your own Dens take photos and send them either to the pack email which is scoutpack348@yahoo.com or directly to me, tnicholsonrowley@hotmail.com.  I'd also like to have information regarding what your dens are up to during den meetings, so we can all keep up with each other and know what is going on.

The next few blogs will be introductions of our Cub Master and his team.  They have all been working very hard to make this a great year for all of the boys.  They have many activities planned and I will do my best to keep you all posted on what is going on.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at my personal email above and I'll do my best to answer any questions you have regarding THIS website, any other questions... they go to Jim and Tommy Barrios.

During Meetings, the boys will go off and do an activity.  Some may be repeats of what you have covered in your Den Meetings.  If it is, they have your scouts help the littler ones who may need more help.  Here are a few photos of the boys building bird houses while Jim offered the parents his words of wisdom.
